Children's Book Week, new arrivals and what are you reading now?

Thanks to all of you who came to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day with us!  Everybody here had a great time, and really appreciated all of you coming by to see us!  Now, we move on to Children's Book Week.  We've planned three story times this week.  Yesterday was all about butterflies, today is stories about flowers in honor of May Day(May 1st). On Friday, we will be reading books about bikes and bike riding.  All story times are at 1pm.

And to end the week, we have a Children's Book Parade with five amazing Children's Book author's here on Saturday at 2pm.  Children's Book Parade

New releases:
If you've been waiting for the Mueller Report- we have it.  If you'd like something a little easier to wade through, we have several new mass market titles to choose from. We have lots of new non-fiction titles and some great middle grade and young adult reads. Just in today: signed copies of "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens

Our UPS driver just brought us two big boxes of...puzzles! Here is a sampling. We have puzzles that have a mystery to solve, puzzles that have three different puzzles in one box.  The puzzles range from 49 pieces to all the way up to 1500 pieces

Looking ahead, we have a 3 books that are coming out next week that you can pre-order. We will have signed copies of each. Two young adult titles: Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard, With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo; and a hilarious picture book by Ann Patchett, Lambslide

What are we reading?

Becky is still working her way through "Stamped from the Beginning" for her book club and has started reading a new title from Kelli Estes called "Today We Go Home". It will be released in September.  Candace is reading The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and waiting for #3 in the mystery series that she is enjoying. Jeff is reading "Worth Dying for" by Lee Child.   I have started "Pages &Co: The Bookwanderers"(it doesn't come out until September.)

I've read about 30 upcoming Picture books in the last week or so.  The one I am most excited about is an alphabet book featuring Broadway's leading ladies(past and present).  I am such a musical theatre geek and it was fun to guess which Broadway star would be used for that letter.

Have a great week! We hope to see you at the story times or the author event.
