It is a week of celebrations here at Vintage Books. Tomorrow is Independent Bookstore Day. This is a day to celebrate you, our customers. Without you, we would not be here. Join us for a day of activities, a scavenger hunt, drawings and special limited edition items.
Did you know that we started as a home-based business back in 1975? We moved to a storefront in 1978, and to this location in 1984. We have a lot of determination, adaption to change, a passion for all things books and a love for our community. We continue to thrive as an independent bookstore. Every single one of us who works here is here because we love what we do. We get the chance to share our love of books and gift items with each and every one of you. So, we celebrate you.
Check out some of these nifty items that will be for sale starting on Saturday. Due to restrictions that we must abide by, we cannot take pre-orders or place any items on hold. We have limited quantities available and it will be first come, first served for all items.
As mentioned in my previous post, we will have some Sesame Street related activities available on IBD. We will also have a table with a few puzzles to put together. And, most exciting, we will have a Where's Maisie? picture hunt. Find a picture of Maisie, win a prize!
Children's Book Week
After you celebrate bookstores on Saturday, come back on Monday and help us celebrate Children's Book Week- which is April 28th- May 4th. Monday at 1pm we will have a story time with butterflies as the theme. Tuesday, we will be getting for May Day by creating a May Day basket. Did anybody else celebrate May Day as a kid? I have fond memories of creating baskets, picking flowers from our yard and leaving baskets at the neighbors' houses. Last year, my daughter and I surprised several friends with small bouquets of carnations. Note to self, make sure friends are not allergic to the flowers you give them.On Friday, we will read stories about bikes. May is National Bike Month!
On Saturday, May 4th, we will have 5 Children's Book Authors here at 2pm Children's Book Parade
